Since 1978

We weave what we sell.

Two looms in Bhadohi became four weaving units, a Jaipur design studio and partnerships with cooperatives across western India. Every piece we ship is made by people we employ or buy from directly.

Our craft

Three stages, all under our own roof

Design and graphing, spinning and dyeing, then weaving and finishing. Keeping all three in-house is what makes reorder consistency possible.

  1. Design & graphing
    01

    Design & graphing

A pattern is drawn, then graphed knot by knot onto squared paper. A single 8×10 graph can run to 300,000 plotted knots.

  2. Spinning & dyeing
    02

    Spinning & dyeing

Wool is hand-spun, then dyed in small lots. Small batches are why the colour breathes across a field instead of sitting flat.

  3. Weaving & finishing
    03

    Weaving & finishing

Weaving, then washing, clipping, stretching and binding. A fine 6×9 takes two weavers the better part of nine months.

History

Five decades on the loom

  1. 1978

    First loom in Bhadohi

Founded as a two-loom workshop supplying the Delhi export houses.

  2. 1994

    Direct export licence

Began shipping direct to buyers in Germany and the United Kingdom.

  3. 2006

    Jaipur design studio

Opened a studio to draw original work rather than adapt archive patterns.

  4. 2015

    Cooperative partnerships

Fixed-price purchase agreements with weaving cooperatives in Kutch and Mirzapur.

  5. 2022

    Contract division

A dedicated hospitality team for bespoke sizes and flammability-certified work.

Sustainability

Wool, not plastic

Almost everything we weave is wool, cotton, jute or silk — biodegradable fibres from renewable sources.

Our dye house recycles process water through a three-stage settling system, and dye lots are sized to the order rather than to the vat, which cuts both waste and cost. Offcuts from finishing go back into our own felt underlay production.

On the labour side, we hold fixed-price purchase agreements with our partner cooperatives so weavers are insulated from wool price swings, and every unit we operate is registered and independently audited for child-labour compliance.

Why buyers stay

What you get from a direct manufacturer

  • Handcrafted in India

Woven in our own units in Bhadohi and Jaipur, and by partner cooperatives in Kutch and Mirzapur.

  • Flexible MOQ

From two pieces on fine hand-knotted work and twelve on entry-price flatweaves. Mixed-design cartons allowed.

  • Wholesale pricing

Trade pricing on every line, with three volume tiers per product and account-specific rates above 50 pieces.

  • Worldwide shipping

FOB Nhava Sheva or door-to-door DDP. Full export documentation, GSP certificates and container consolidation.

  • Quality checked

Every piece is measured, washed, clipped and inspected against a five-point check before it is rolled.

We are usually hiring weavers, finishers and design assistants in Bhadohi and Jaipur. Write to trade@loomhouse.example.com with the role you are interested in.
